Barb Montague, artist
“Arnold’s works are abstract in design and explore the interplay between emotion, energy and place that she experienced while living in the South of France, The Netherlands and Ecuador. Arnold is interested in the human condition, natural beauty, the senses and color – all topics that intersect in her work. She has been strongly influenced by her travels throughout the world, most recently in India, Thailand, Peru, Borneo and California.
Arnold’s works are an explosion of texture and intense color generating an organic energy and tension that flow across wood panels or canvas – resulting in a sense of harmony in the series. A process of material exploration, Barbara Arnold’s mixed media works are a fusion between synthetic and natural materials using acrylic and oil paint, wax, inks, charcoals and antiquing processes.
Barbara Arnold has a great passion for life, people, music and nature – her work embodies that emotion and communicates her unique perspectives and experiences.
Arnold has attended Emily Carr University of Art and Design, in Vancouver, B.C. and works full time as a mixed media artist out of her studio on Granville Island. She has been exhibiting her work for the last three years”
